About the role#
The Indianapolis Indians are looking for a Baseball Communications Assistant to support daily media operations. This role focuses on baseball and clubhouse information. You will work closely with the communications staff to gain experience in professional sports communications. This is a full-time position running from February 2, 2027, through September 29, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and distribute stat packs, game notes, rosters, and lineups.
- Operate DAK Stats software for ballpark and television displays or the MLB pitch clock system.
- Write news releases, advisories, and feature stories for print and digital media.
- Manage media credential requests and update concourse boards.
- Create content for the team website and social media channels.
- Build relationships with clubhouse personnel.
- Cover road games as assigned by your supervisor.
- Assist with community outreach events and marketing material distribution.
- Support field operations, stadium events, and front desk duties.
What you'll need#
- A degree or current enrollment in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of baseball rules, scoring, and statistics.
- Demonstrated writing ability and experience with AP style.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Word, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Previous experience in baseball public relations or a collegiate sports information office is preferred.
- Ability to work a demanding schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capacity to work full-time hours starting in February.
