About the role#
This internship provides experience in nutritional services. You will assist in providing food to patients, visitors, and staff. The role involves working across various stations to ensure safe and efficient meal service.
What you'll do#
- Work at different stations in the patient meal service area.
- Deliver carts, meals, and supplies to patient units while using two patient identifiers.
- Perform dishwashing and pot washing duties.
- Serve food in retail areas and answer questions about café items.
- Stock supplies and fill in for cross-trained roles as needed.
- Maintain a sanitary workspace and follow cleaning guidelines.
- Prepare, serve, and store food according to HACCP guidelines.
- Record food and dish machine temperatures during meal periods.
- Practice good hygiene, including hand washing and using hair restraints.
- Follow MSDS guidelines for chemical storage and usage.
- Use proper body techniques for lifting, carrying, and moving items.
- Provide customer service and handle service recovery when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school or GED program.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with a diverse audience.
- Customer service experience.
- A valid worker’s permit issued by your local high school district.
- A completed Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police.
- ServSafe certification, food service experience, and cash handling experience are preferred.

- Location: Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, part-time position with a rolling term.
- You may be scheduled for rotating shifts based on operational needs.
