About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week program during Summer 2027. You will work on-site in Ontario, California, gaining hands-on experience by assisting with the analysis, design, and implementation of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real projects, contributing to education, healthcare, and public-sector work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design portions of mechanical systems projects according to code and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment.
- Maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
- Coordinate design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by contract agreements.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skill in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written formats to individuals or groups.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
