About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Chemical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program in 2027. You will work on-site in Boulder, Colorado, collaborating with experienced engineers and consultants on the design, analysis, and implementation of chemical processes. This full-time role supports our industrial, manufacturing, and MEP teams, with a focus on life sciences and pharmaceutical production.
What you'll do#
- Assist with discipline system design following code and company standards.
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
- Research commercially available equipment and assist in developing specifications.
- Perform field work to document existing conditions and installations.
- Conduct technical calculations and document design tasks.
- Support cost estimate development and vendor quote solicitation.
- Assist with process controls design and bid package documentation.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor design progress and document meetings, decisions, and client instructions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support client relations and maintain project design notebooks.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD software, and BIM.
- Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written formats.
- Prior internship experience in engineering consulting or the chemical process industry is preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus.
