HyperLight is seeking an Integrated Photonics Summer PhD Intern to contribute to the development and testing of thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) integrated photonics. This role involves working across chip, module, and system levels to support the advancement of next-generation photonic products.
What you'll do#
- Perform optical and electrical testing of integrated photonic devices and systems.
- Build new test functionalities and develop improved test setups.
- Optimize test protocols to enhance measurement efficiency and accuracy.
- Drive R&D efforts to improve optical, RF, and electro-optical product performance.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data to validate device performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design and fabrication, to address performance challenges.
What you'll need#
- Current Ph.D. or Master student in a photonics-related field, such as Physics, Optics, or Engineering.
- Strong understanding of integrated photonics, silicon photonics, or related technologies.
- Proficiency in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems in new or ambiguous scenarios and work under time constraints.
- Experience with electro-optical modulators, fiber alignment systems, free-space optics setups, or photonic device simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, COMSOL) is a plus.
