About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern at Hy-Vee, you will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to support pharmacy operations. This role focuses on providing efficient customer service while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Fill and process prescriptions in accordance with legal statutes.
- Provide prompt and friendly service to pharmacy customers.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and checking invoices.
- Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Handle confidential customer medical information in compliance with HIPAA.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Proficiency in arithmetic calculations, including algebra and geometry.
- Ability to compose original correspondence and follow technical manuals.
- Capability to handle physical exertion, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills for counseling and advising customers.
