About the role#
Hitachi Energy in Stoney Creek is seeking a Production Assistant Intern for a 12-month term, with the possibility of extension up to 16 months. This role provides exposure to factory operations and the repair process for large power transformers. You will work directly with shift supervisors, the technical advisor, and the broader production team.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with shift supervisors to ensure daily and weekly factory tasks are completed.
- Work with the technical advisor to place orders for hardware and job-related components.
- Identify gaps in current factory processes that impact throughput, quality, or health and safety.
- Support the production planner as needed.
- Assist the buyer in communicating with vendors and creating purchase requisitions in SAP.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the third year of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, with plans to return to studies after the work term.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office software.
- Understanding of lean management, quality principles, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to multitask.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Base knowledge of SAP is an asset.
