About the role#
The Nurse Extern Program offers students the chance to gain clinical experience at Allegheny Health Network facilities. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term. You will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to support daily patient care activities.
What you'll do#
- Perform clinical tasks including patient hygiene, nutritional support, checking vital signs, and collecting specimens.
- Communicate relevant patient data to your care team.
- Organize and prioritize daily patient care duties using time management skills.
- Take responsibility for your own professional development.
- Handle other duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing diploma or degree program.
- Expected graduation date in December 2027, Spring 2028, or Summer 2028.
- Current American Heart Association CPR certification.
- Valid Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
- Valid Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
- Valid Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.
