    About the role#

    As a Machine Shop Intern, you will work alongside machinists, engineers, and technicians to support the daily operations of the machine shop. This role provides hands-on experience in the manufacturing of high-precision aerospace components and offers the opportunity to develop practical skills in CNC operation and aerospace production.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the operation of equipment including waterjets, laser cutters, CNC machines, lathes, mills, and grinders under the guidance of experienced team members.
    • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to assist in the setup and production of parts.
    • Perform in-process inspection and measurement of parts using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure compliance with aerospace standards.
    • Assist with machine setup and basic maintenance, including cleaning and tool changes.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete tasks and document production processes, measurements, and quality control checks.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and standards while operating machinery and handling materials.

    What you'll need#

    • Basic knowledge of machining processes and equipment, such as CNC, lathes, and mills.
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    • Proficiency in basic math and the use of measurement tools like calipers and micrometers.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • A strong interest in aerospace manufacturing and technology.
    • Ability to work in a hands-on, physically demanding environment.
    • Preferred: Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, Manufacturing Execution Systems, or specific machine controls like Haas, Okuma, Doosan, or Trumpf.
    • Preferred: Experience with flat pattern programs or machine maintenance and troubleshooting.

    • Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
    • Commitment: Full-time, paid internship.
    • Duration: Approximately 6 months.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Note: This position requires access to information subject to U.S. export controls; candidates must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
