Avionics Electrical Engineering Intern

About the role#

As an Avionics Electrical Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the design, testing, and integration of GNC systems, electrical hardware, control software, power distribution, and RF communications. You will take charge of designing and testing custom electrical systems for both ground test and flight applications, ensuring seamless compatibility at the sub-system and integrated system levels.

What you'll do#

• Conduct physical testing of subsystems and validate performance against requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed wire diagrams for subsystem integration.
• Set up and configure hardware in lab environments for testing and validation.
• Perform end-to-end subsystem testing to ensure full integration of electrical, hardware, and software components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, electrical, and mechanical engineering, to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues.
• Document test results, integration procedures, and system configurations.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Entry-level experience with C, C++, or other embedded programming languages.
• Experience working with hardware integrations and embedded computers such as Raspberry PIs, Arduinos, or STM32s.
• Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for aviation.
• Must be a U.S. person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 to meet U.S. export control requirements.

Location & details#

• Location: Atlanta, GA (On-site).
• Term: Fall 2026 (Approximately 16 weeks, August through December).
• Commitment: Full-time.
• Status: Paid internship.
