About the role#
The Business Systems Intern supports the IT team at Hays Electrical Services with administration and reporting across core business systems. This role involves managing ERP and HRIS platforms to support project operations, recruiting, and finance. You will work on real projects with a dedicated supervisor and mentor, culminating in a capstone presentation to company leadership.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the configuration and administration of ERP and HRIS platforms.
- Support user account setup, access requests, and permissions troubleshooting.
- Maintain system documentation, process guides, and SOPs.
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards for IT and business stakeholders.
- Perform data cleanup, validation, and reconciliation across systems.
- Troubleshoot daily system issues and document recurring problems.
- Support integration testing during system upgrades or rollouts.
- Participate in user acceptance testing for active IT projects.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field (rising junior or senior preferred).
- Basic understanding of business systems or ERP concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn new software platforms quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with ERP platforms like Sage, Workday, or NetSuite is preferred.
- Basic SQL or data query experience is a plus.
- Experience with helpdesk or ticketing systems is a plus.

- Location: Houston, Texas (with potential travel to project sites across Texas).
- Term: Summer 2027 (10 to 12 weeks).
