About the role#
This summer internship offers hands-on experience in corporate marketing, branding, and social media. You will work on real projects that contribute directly to company operations, from managing an original social media campaign to supporting our annual leadership conference. You will build practical skills and finish the program with a final presentation to senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Manage the registration tracker for our annual leadership conference, track travel bookings, and support awards administration.
- Draft registration reminders, manage sponsor materials, and update the event intranet page.
- Design and execute an original organic social media campaign, including creating graphics and drafting captions.
- Shadow the acquisition and disposition marketing process and research new property acquisitions.
- Visit communities to document branding and signage, and learn best practices for photo capture.
- Conduct competitor and peer brand scans and monitor reputation across review sites.
- Track industry trends and assist with new business proposals and deck formatting.
- Support internal communications by drafting newsletter posts and new hire announcements.
- Organize and maintain the company brand asset library.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited 4-year degree program, entering junior or senior standing by the start of the internship.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
- One year of customer service work experience.
- Strong writing and communication skills with computer proficiency.
- Interest in marketing, communications, social media, or brand management.
Location & details#
- Location: Norfolk, Virginia.
- Term: 10-week commitment from June through August 2027.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site role.
- Travel: You must be willing to travel for both the Kick-Off and Capstone events.
- Compensation: This position is paid at $23.00 to $23.70 per hour.
