About the role#
Halff is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our MEP team in McAllen, Texas. This internship provides an opportunity to work on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. You will gain hands-on experience by assisting with electrical design, HVAC, and plumbing projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
What you'll do#
- Design mechanical or electrical engineering projects under the guidance of a Professional Engineer.
- Create electrical project documents, plans, and specifications for electrical and lighting systems.
- Assist with HVAC and plumbing design projects.
- Perform drafting work using CAD software.
- Conduct calculations and analysis for design projects.
- Prepare permit applications and regulatory documents.
- Coordinate with team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors.
- Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Help plan and prepare engineered contract documentation while working with project managers to meet deadlines.
- Assist in scheduling work, materials, and equipment to ensure project performance and construction schedules.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an ABET accredited equivalent.
- Experience or familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong communication, team building, and organization skills.
- A self-motivated approach to work.
Location & details#
- Location: McAllen, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Compensation: This is a paid, hourly position.
- Note: Housing is not provided or paid for by the company.
