About the role#
As an Analytical Chemistry Co-Op, you will support the R&D Global Analytical Development Team in Richmond. This role focuses on the physical and chemical assessment of new topical and nasal drug products. You will gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical techniques and contribute to data generation that supports product development from early stages through commercialization.
What you'll do#
- Handle and analyze semi-solid and solution-based drug products.
- Operate specialized analytical instrumentation, including rheological, Franz diffusion cell (IVRT), and liquid chromatography systems.
- Utilize software tools to characterize formulation properties and analyze experimental data.
- Execute laboratory testing to assess physical properties, drug release, and other critical product attributes.
- Perform statistical analyses to evaluate formulation performance.
- Follow standard laboratory procedures and sample preparation techniques.
- Interpret and implement regulatory guidance related to analytical characterization.
- Document data using electronic laboratory notebook practices.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and conclusions regarding scientific findings.
- Collaborate with scientists on method development, evaluation, and validation activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Completed coursework in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Spectroscopy, or related laboratory-based sciences.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for 6 months starting in January 2027.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred.
- Strong prioritization, analytical skills, and personal accountability.
- Curiosity and the ability to solve problems independently.
- Experience working effectively with others.
Location & details#
- Location: Richmond, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site (4-5 days per week).
- Compensation: Paid position based on academic standing.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
