About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a 24/7 manufacturing facility. You will work alongside experienced technicians to bridge the gap between classroom theory and production floor operations. This role involves learning the maintenance and automation standards required for food-grade paperboard packaging.
What you'll do#
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment checks.
- Assist in diagnosing breakdowns involving electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and servo systems.
- Gain experience running conduit, pulling wire, fabrication, and installing new control systems.
- Troubleshoot and program PLCs in a live industrial environment.
- Participate in general building maintenance and facility support tasks.
- Learn critical hygiene and tool accountability standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate degree program for Electro-Mechanical Technology, Automation, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with reading schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- A disciplined approach to safety, particularly when working with 480V equipment and at heights.
- Ability to stay active for the duration of a shift, including lifting and working in various outdoor weather conditions.
- A strong desire to ask questions, learn new tools, and solve technical puzzles.
