About the role#
GreatAmerica Financial Services is seeking three students for the Summer 2027 Software Quality Engineer Internship. This role offers hands-on experience in software quality assurance, test automation, API integration, and quality analytics. You will work alongside Quality Engineers, Software Engineers, and Product Owners to support critical business operations. Each intern will receive mentorship and complete a focused project in one of three areas: Test Automation Engineering, API and Integration Quality Engineering, or Quality Analytics and Engineering Excellence.
What you'll do#
- Review user stories and business requirements to identify test conditions and quality risks.
- Design, document, and execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory test scenarios.
- Identify, track, and retest software defects while participating in root-cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve regression coverage.
- Create and execute API validation scenarios and verify data accuracy across systems.
- Run automated tests within continuous integration and delivery workflows.
- Analyze test results, defect trends, and quality metrics to assist with status reporting.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and present a final capstone project.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related technical field.
- Basic understanding of software testing concepts and the software development lifecycle.
- Exposure to programming languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python.
- Familiarity with Agile practices, SQL, relational databases, and API concepts.
- Experience or coursework involving software development, testing, or data analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
