About the role#
Great American Insurance Group is looking for a year-round intern to join the Property & Inland Marine division in Syracuse, New York. This role focuses on developing foundational underwriting skills while working alongside experienced professionals. You will gain exposure to underwriting guidelines, policy language, and the daily operations of a specialty insurance business. This is an on-site position requiring five days of attendance per week.
What you'll do#
- Review and analyze underwriting reports.
- Assist underwriters with the coordination and processing of policies.
- Enter policy information into the management system.
- Support marketing efforts and administrative tasks.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
- A major in business administration, finance, economics, statistics, communications, or risk management and insurance.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer and part-time (15 hours per week) during the academic year.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivation and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
