About the role#
The Data Auto-Magicians team is looking for a Data Automation Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work with experienced engineers to identify manual or repetitive processes and build practical automation solutions. This role focuses on applying modern development and AI technologies to real-world data and engineering problems.
What you'll do#
- Develop automation solutions and utilities using Python.
- Use AI development tools like GitHub Copilot, OpenSpec, and Claude to assist with coding, testing, documentation, code review, and automation.
- Help automate data workflows, pipelines, monitoring, alerting, validation, and repetitive engineering tasks.
- Work with Data Engineering and other technology teams to identify automation opportunities.
- Participate in the design, development, testing, and documentation of your automation projects.
- Learn and apply software development, DevOps, and automation best practices.
- Participate in team discussions, demonstrations, and knowledge sharing.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Expected graduation year of 2028 or 2029.
- Basic programming experience, preferably with Python.
- Foundational understanding of software development concepts.
- Interest in AI, automation, data engineering, or DevOps.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and technology teams.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to take a problem from initial understanding through to a working solution.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid role based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
- You must be able to work in the office at least three days a week.
- This is a paid, part-time internship for the Summer 2027 term.
