    About the role#

    This internship supports the regional environmental manager in overseeing environmental programs for quarry, sand, gravel, and asphalt operations. You will gain hands-on experience by assisting with permitting processes, maintaining compliance databases, and supporting the Environmental Management System. This role involves working across multiple facilities to ensure operations align with company policies and regulatory requirements.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in the procurement and maintenance of all necessary environmental permits.
    • Coordinate with business unit personnel to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Maintain the environmental compliance database and the Environmental Management System.
    • Identify and monitor environmentally significant issues while advising management on appropriate actions.
    • Develop and implement practical environmental strategies.
    • Solve technical problems to meet environmental requirements.
    • Build and maintain working relationships with public officials and the general public.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment at an accredited college or university.
    • A major in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • A high school diploma.
    • A general understanding of federal, state, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
    • Strong technical writing skills for inspection reports and memos.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with management and construction project crafts.
    • Demonstrated decision-making skills and the ability to represent the company in public forums.
    • Previous environmental experience is a plus.
