About the role#
Granite Construction hires interns to assist with engineering operations on infrastructure projects. You will support construction teams to ensure work meets engineering standards. This role involves hands-on experience and mentorship in the field. We are looking for individuals who can take responsibility and communicate effectively with team members.
What you'll do#
- Interpret design drawings for takeoff and workforce planning for bidding and building projects.
- Prepare and distribute status reports, punch lists, and sketches of completed work.
- Provide technical support regarding project materials, delivery dates, and construction schedules.
- Assist with change orders and estimates by preparing drawings and quantity take-offs.
- Maintain records of quantities for work performed and materials installed.
- Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in construction estimating, engineering, or field support.
- Proficiency with MS Office products.
- Ability to perform trigonometric calculations.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive.
