About the role#
The Ministry of Technology and Innovation is seeking students for temporary, full-time positions during the Fall 2026 term. These roles are designed for individuals interested in data management, governance, architecture, product delivery, and information technology operations. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment to support services for Albertans while gaining hands-on experience in government technology projects.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned team, your responsibilities may include:
- Understanding business workflows and information needs to support the AI Center of Excellence.
- Translating business requirements into analytics and reporting solutions to assist executive decision-making.
- Researching and implementing machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence techniques to improve data analysis efficiency.
- Developing data visualizations and engaging reports.
- Supporting product and platform teams with front-end and back-end software development.
- Providing technical expertise for service operations and contributing to internal artificial intelligence programs, including robotic process automation.
- Assisting in the development of enterprise content, technology, and privacy management policies.
What you'll need#
Successful candidates must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution for September 2026 or have graduated within the last six months. You must be legally eligible to work in Canada and reside in Alberta during the work term.
Required qualifications include:
- A two-year technical diploma in Computer Science, Information Management Technology, or a related discipline.
- For Technologies 3 roles: Experience with research, model building, and data collection and analysis.
- For Systems Analyst 1 roles: Experience understanding conceptual, logical, and physical data models, along with a high-level understanding of designing and implementing large, complex information systems.
- Strong analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
