About the role#
The Fiscal Policy Intern role is a two-year, full-time temporary position within the Economics and Fiscal Policy Division of the Government of Alberta. This program provides broad exposure to the functions of the division, including economic analysis, forecasting, policy development, and provincial fiscal management. Interns will rotate between four branches to gain experience in government decision-making processes, federal and provincial fiscal relations, and the production of demographic and social statistics.
What you'll do#
- Assist in budget planning and financial management tasks.
- Conduct economic analysis and forecasting to support policy development.
- Participate in projects contributing to the division's fiscal strategy and reporting.
- Gain understanding of Alberta's fiscal framework, key economic drivers, and government policy priorities.
- Communicate technical data and findings to various stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- A recent degree in Economics, Finance, Law, Public Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree in economics is preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain highly technical issues in clear, simple language.
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration within the division.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to complex policy and fiscal challenges.
