About the role#
The Circuit Design team is looking for an intern for Summer 2027 to work in Austin, Texas. You will perform block-level physical design using place-and-route tools and industry-standard cores to evaluate technology. You will also support RTL analysis and simulation to validate implementation and benchmark power, performance, and area.
What you'll do#
- Perform block-level place and route for complex cores using standard-cell and memory-library IP.
- Run RTL simulation and verification flows to confirm correct core implementation.
- Support power benchmarking and design analysis.
- Apply circuit-design techniques to optimize standard-cell logic and improve IP performance.
- Develop and maintain Tcl and Perl scripts to automate physical-design and RTL-simulation workflows.
- Optimize standard-cell and memory IP through block-level design studies for Edge AI and automotive applications.
- Use industry-standard CAD and electronic design automation tools for VLSI implementation, debugging, and documentation.
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner while supporting Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs.
What you'll need#
- You are at least a sophomore and actively pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- You hold an overall 3.0 GPA or higher.
- You have English fluency in both written and verbal communication.
- You can commit to working at least 40 hours per week.
- Prior internship or co-op experience is preferred.
- We value demonstrated leadership in school projects or competitions.
- A strong interest in AI tools and project management skills are preferred.
- We prefer candidates with a working knowledge of UNIX operating systems.
- Coursework or research experience in VLSI design, physical design, RTL simulation, or semiconductor circuit design is preferred.
- Familiarity with place-and-route, CAD/EDA tools, and Tcl or Perl scripting is helpful.
