About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to support HIV Clinical Virology research and development. You will work on projects that use AI tools and models to advance our research strategy. You will collaborate with scientists to turn research questions into data-driven approaches and gain experience at a research-focused organization.
What you'll do#
- Build and expand AI tools, models, and agents to support HIV clinical research.
- Work with virology scientists to turn research needs into AI-enabled workflows.
- Develop and test AI-assisted methods for data analysis, reporting, and decision support.
- Curate and analyze virology data to reach scientifically sound conclusions.
- Document your methods and test outputs to ensure reproducible and responsible use of AI.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative research efforts.
- Present your work in a final presentation at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor, Master, MBA, JD, or PhD program at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Continued full-time enrollment for the Fall semester following the internship.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
- Working toward a degree in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- A background in cellular biology, virology, bioinformatics, or computational biology.
- Hands-on experience with Python, machine learning, statistical modeling, or generative AI.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to commit to a 10 to 12-week full-time internship between May and August.

- Authorization: Must be independently authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
- Requirements: Must be able to work at the designated site for the duration of the internship.
