About the role#
The GIFFORDS Courage Fellowship is a program for individuals aged 18 to 24 designed to build advocacy and organizing skills within the gun violence prevention movement. Fellows work alongside GIFFORDS staff to refine their leadership capabilities and drive meaningful change in their communities. This is a paid, full-time opportunity based in Colorado.
What you'll do#
- Attend all required in-person trainings in Colorado and virtual training sessions.
- Develop and implement a community engagement project, such as voter registration drives, town halls, or art installations.
- Meet with lawmakers to discuss gun violence prevention legislation and advocacy.
- Network with other young activists and learn from leaders in the progressive movement.
- Participate in quarterly check-ins with GIFFORDS staff for mentorship and project support.
- Join the Courage Fellowship Ambassador Program upon completion of the initial fellowship, which includes representing GIFFORDS at events, mentoring future fellows, and contributing to organizational communications.
What you'll need#
- Strong ties to Colorado and a plan to remain in the state for the foreseeable future.
- Demonstrated interest in politics, community organizing, activism, or volunteerism.
- A passion for fighting gun violence.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and openness to different perspectives.
- Willingness to travel throughout Colorado for all scheduled program trainings.
- Academic background in fields such as Political Science, Sociology, Communications, Public Health, or Psychology is relevant, though not required.
