    About the role#

    Gibraltar Industries is seeking an Automation Engineering Intern to join the team in Manhattan, Kansas. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship offered on a rolling basis. You will collaborate with the Engineering team to support the development of robotic and automation solutions within a manufacturing environment.

    What you'll do#

    • Prototype small robotic and automation projects.
    • Conduct technology research and provide recommendations for project implementation.
    • Perform robot programming tasks.
    • Provide support for robot interfacing, including data exchange between PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems.
    • Utilize technical writing skills to document project progress and specifications.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a 2-year technical program or a 4-year degree program in Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering with a focus on automation and controls.
    • Experience with robotics, automation, and control systems.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at a desk for prolonged periods.
    • Previous manufacturing experience is considered a plus, as is experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Access.
