About the role#
Generac is looking for a Micro-Grid Systems Engineering Intern to join the Industrial Microgrid Controls Team in Fort Collins. You will work with engineers to improve the performance and reliability of microgrid deployments. This role involves analyzing operational data, validating control strategies, and exploring AI applications for power systems.
What you'll do#
- Analyze large data sets from microgrid, energy storage, and distributed energy resource systems.
- Turn operational data into engineering recommendations.
- Build analytics, dashboards, and visualization tools.
- Support predictive maintenance, fault detection, and root cause analysis.
- Design and run testing scenarios using MIL and HIL setups to evaluate system performance.
- Assist in the verification of control architectures.
- Create AI agents and automation tools to improve engineering workflows.
- Research emerging AI technologies for power systems.
- Contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with academic and national laboratory partners.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program for Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Energy Systems Engineering, Data Science, Applied Math, or a related field.
- Interest in data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
- Ability to clean, interpret, and visualize complex data sets.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication and collaboration abilities.
