About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Transfer Switch products, you will work alongside engineers to fulfill design requests. You will receive technical instruction and guidance while performing structured assignments. This role allows you to apply engineering principles in a practical setting, participate in cross-functional project teams, and take ownership of specific design tasks.
What you'll do#
- Create part and assembly definitions using 2D cross sections, 3D models, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Develop Pro-E models, drawings, and templates while managing changes to bills of materials.
- Design, validate, and test standard components to support new product development.
- Evaluate designs for cost, reliability, safety, and overall effectiveness.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, and product specialists to improve design manufacturability.
- Use CAD and CAE systems to produce detailed engineering drawings.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects and travel to other company facilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS degree program, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering.
- Working knowledge of Pro-E or AutoCAD.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to write clearly.
- Availability to work 15-20 hours per week during the school year and full time during school breaks.
