About the role#
Generac offers a full-time internship program for engineering students during the summer of 2027. You will gain experience in product development, testing, and engineering design. This role involves working on-site to contribute to projects that support our power generation and tool product lines. You will work alongside mentors to develop your technical skills and gain exposure to industry practices.
What you'll do#
- Design, validate, and bring new products to market.
- Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials.
- Support product development plans, including schedule management and cost analysis.
- Specify functional requirements and design, test, and integrate components.
- Evaluate designs for effectiveness, reliability, cost, and safety.
- Develop and execute fitness-for-use testing and process validation plans.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners and designers to optimize designs for production.
- Use CAD and CAE systems to model designs.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects and interface with internal team members.
- Travel to other company facilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelors or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Completion of your sophomore year is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Pro-E or AutoCAD.
- Clear, succinct written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer.
