About the role#
GEI Consultants is hiring a Materials Testing and Inspection Intern to join our team in Barrie, Ontario. This is a full-time, paid internship for students in Civil or Construction Engineering Technology programs. You will work on-site and support our geotechnical and environmental projects across Southern and Central Ontario.
What you'll do#
- Travel to construction sites to perform testing and inspection of soil, granular materials, and hot mix asphalt.
- Conduct field testing of cast-in-place concrete.
- Review design drawings, project specifications, and industry construction standards.
- Prepare technical reports, memos, and analysis.
- Assist with laboratory testing to support field operations.
- Collaborate with geotechnical and environmental teams on joint projects.
- Promote health and safety standards in all work tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil or Construction Engineering Technology program at an accredited institution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project.
- Experience with technical analysis software.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Business use insurance for your vehicle.
