About the role#
This is an entry-level position where you will receive hands-on training in our construction materials lab. You will work alongside an experienced technician to learn how to evaluate the quality of materials used in construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform test procedures on soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, stone, and masonry.
- Learn to operate laboratory testing devices.
- Monitor machine function by listening for changes in sound.
- Assist with various lab tasks while maintaining a focus on accuracy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong organizational habits.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Flexibility to multitask, shift priorities, and modify your schedule to meet project deadlines.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach, bend, crawl, climb, and lift at least 80 pounds.
Location & details#
- Location: Dayton, Ohio.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Note: Some overtime may be required. You will be exposed to dust, soil, and other environmental factors in the lab.
