About the role#
As a Nuclear Lean and Operations Intern, you will join the Nuclear Operations team for a 10-week project. You will focus on simplifying and automating how performance information moves from KPI owners to leadership. This role offers hands-on exposure to Lean methodologies, digital transformation, and AI applications in a nuclear energy environment.
What you'll do#
- Lead a project to digitize and automate the Nuclear L2, L3, and L4 KPI and Monthly Operating Review (MOR) process.
- Analyze and redesign the end-to-end KPI workflow to eliminate manual work and improve data quality.
- Develop and pilot automation solutions for KPI collection, validation, and visualization.
- Prototype AI and automation use cases that improve productivity and decision-making.
- Measure the impact of your improvements and create a roadmap for future operations excellence.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Management, or Finance.
- Hands-on experience or interest in emerging AI technologies, Generative AI, and agentic workflows.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools and Smartsheet.
- Foundational experience in data analysis, process improvement, or digital solutions.
- An innovative mindset and the ability to challenge existing workflows.
- Preferred: Experience with Power Automate, Power BI, Copilot Studio, Python, SQL, or low-code platforms.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Lean methodologies, such as process mapping, root-cause analysis, and waste elimination.
- Preferred: Strong data visualization and communication skills.

- Term: Summer 2027 (May to August).
