About the role#
GBA is hiring a Field Inspection Intern to support our Transportation Group in Lenexa, Kansas. This internship provides hands-on experience with roadway and bridge projects. You will work on-site throughout the summer of 2027. We provide training for students interested in building a career in the inspection field.
What you'll do#
- Read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Perform field materials testing on soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
- Observe construction to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Manage project documentation, including timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare pay applications, change orders, and general administrative paperwork.
- Perform environmental inspections.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and computer documentation skills.
- A self-motivated and optimistic attitude.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry field equipment and samples, including passing a 50lb lift test.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a physical and drug screening.
