    About the role#

    GBA is hiring a Field Inspection Intern to support our Transportation Group in Lenexa, Kansas. This internship provides hands-on experience with roadway and bridge projects. You will work on-site throughout the summer of 2027. We provide training for students interested in building a career in the inspection field.

    What you'll do#

    • Read and interpret plans and specifications.
    • Perform field materials testing on soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
    • Observe construction to ensure compliance with contract documents.
    • Manage project documentation, including timely and accurate reporting.
    • Prepare pay applications, change orders, and general administrative paperwork.
    • Perform environmental inspections.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and computer documentation skills.
    • A self-motivated and optimistic attitude.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
    • Ability to lift and carry field equipment and samples, including passing a 50lb lift test.
    • A valid driver's license.
    • Ability to pass a physical and drug screening.
