About the role#
GAI Consultants, Inc. is hiring a Transmission Line Intern for our Power Delivery Team. This is a temporary, full-time position for Summer 2027. You will work directly with engineers and project managers to support transmission line and distribution design. This role is based in our Orlando office.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and project managers with daily project tasks.
- Prepare specification packages and structural or fabrication drawings.
- Design and analyze transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower.
- Perform foundation design and analysis.
- Analyze proposed and existing structures against industry codes and standards.
- Complete electrical clearance checks and calculations.
- Coordinate and develop permits for railroad, roadway, and environmental crossings.
- Apply engineering principles to power delivery projects while following established processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of Statics and Material Science coursework.
- Preferred coursework includes Structural Analysis, Soil Mechanics, Steel Design, and Concrete Design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical reports, professional journals, and government regulations.
- Proficiency in basic computer systems and a willingness to learn industry-specific software.
- Mathematical skills consistent with your engineering discipline.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- A team-focused mindset and attention to detail.
