About the role#
GAI Consultants is looking for a Structural Intern to join the Power & Industry team in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. This is a temporary, full-time position for a 3-month duration. You will work under lead engineers and project managers to gain experience in structural engineering while contributing to power and industrial projects. You may occasionally travel to local project sites.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and project managers with daily project tasks to support successful delivery.
- Prepare specification packages and structural design reports.
- Develop structural drawings using AutoCAD.
- Create structural design and analysis models and calculations.
- Coordinate and develop client proposals and estimates.
- Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of power and industry projects.
- Perform complex tasks following established processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a structural or civil engineering program at a junior or senior level at an accredited college or university.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports, professional journals, and governmental regulations.
- Experience with drafting programs such as AutoCAD and Revit is preferred.
- Willingness to learn new software and skills specific to the structural engineering industry.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff.
