About the role#
GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a civil engineering student intern to join our Civil and Environmental Business Sector. This is a temporary, full-time position based in Homestead, Pennsylvania. The role is an evergreen position, meaning we hire as needed to support our ongoing growth. You will work under the guidance of professional engineering staff to assist with project delivery, designs, and permitting tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and project managers with daily project tasks.
- Use computer programs to develop detailed designs.
- Undertake technical and feasibility studies.
- Ensure work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Handle basic design challenges while referring complex issues to senior staff.
- Assist with Civil and Environmental designs and permitting.
- Travel locally or regionally for project work, typically 1 to 2 days per week.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in engineering, preferably civil engineering, or a Junior or Senior level student in an electrical engineering program.
- Beginning knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil engineering design tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports, journals, and governmental regulations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills for presenting information and responding to questions.
- Willingness to learn new programs and skills related to Power Delivery.
- Must be eligible to work out of the Homestead office.
