About the role#
Formlabs is seeking a Hardware Systems Integration Intern to join our team in Somerville, MA for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, paid position focuses on the cross-disciplinary engineering required to build robust, high-reliability 3D printers. You will work on integrating new features, validating functionality, and testing system performance.
What you'll do#
- Design and execute studies to characterize and evaluate 3D printer performance.
- Build test setups to assess the reliability of various printer subsystems.
- Debug electro-mechanical systems and collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Embedded Firmware teams to implement solutions.
- Develop Python scripts, queries, and internal tools to support reliability and characterization data.
- Assist in the assembly and commissioning of prototypes.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience working with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
- Proven hands-on experience through lab research, project teams, or prior internships.
- A portfolio of your previous engineering work or projects is required for consideration.
Location & details#
- Location: On-site in Somerville, Massachusetts.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 14 – December 18).
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $1,575 – $1,950 per week.
- Note: This position does not provide housing or relocation assistance.
