About the role#
The Internal Audit Intern reports to the VP of Internal Audit and works alongside audit leadership. This role supports the execution of the annual Internal Audit Plan, focusing on business operations, regulatory compliance, and internal controls over financial reporting. You will gain exposure to the audit process while contributing to the bank’s risk management and control assessment activities.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Internal Audit team to support departmental objectives.
- Participate in walkthroughs of key processes to understand risks, financial statements, and related controls.
- Assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.
- Document findings in clear, logical, and well-supported workpapers.
- Execute audits by conducting interviews, analyzing procedures, and contributing to audit recommendations.
- Support the development and evaluation of AI-enabled tools and agents to improve audit planning, testing, and reporting.
- Maintain professional communication with bank management, external auditors, and the co-sourced audit team.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with artificial intelligence or data analytics.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Interest in or prior experience with banking or financial institutions.
- A professional, self-motivated, and solution-oriented approach.
Location & details#
- Location: Chevy Chase, Maryland.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 22, 2027 - August 12, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site, 4 days per week (Monday - Thursday).
- Compensation: Paid internship.
