About the role#
The Flagship Pioneering Fellowship is an apprenticeship for scientific imagination. We look for early career scientists, technologists, engineers, and physicians to join our 2027 class. You will work in teams to generate and refine venture hypotheses, using your scientific instincts and AI tools to explore concepts that challenge current scientific dogma. The fellowship focuses on turning bold ideas into new companies.
What you'll do#
- Learn and implement the Flagship Pioneering process for generating and refining venture hypotheses.
- Develop creativity and adaptability while exploring innovations with the potential to become breakthrough companies.
- Work at the frontier of polyintelligence by integrating AI with your scientific expertise.
- Network with experienced members of the Flagship team, including Associates, Partners, and company leaders.
- Explore full-time career opportunities within Flagship Pioneering and our ecosystem of companies.
What you'll need#
- Deep expertise in a scientific or technical field such as biology, chemistry, agriculture, or engineering.
- Research or industry experience applying AI or machine learning to scientific or technical fields.
- A completed professional scientific degree, such as a PhD or MD, or be in the final year of your program.
- Broad scientific interests and the ability to ask provocative questions.
- Comfort with scientific uncertainty and a history of using rigorous science to solve challenging problems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-collaboration skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site fellowship based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- The program runs from June 7, 2027, through August 27, 2027.
- Fellows receive a monthly stipend of $8,000 to $9,000.
- Following the fellowship, participants are expected to be available for potential full-time employment by June 1, 2028.
