About the role#
This internship provides practical experience within the Human Resources team at FirstEnergy. You will support compliance programs, employee relations intake, and documentation processes. The role focuses on maintaining accurate records and ensuring consistent follow-up on employee-related matters. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Akron, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Support the administration of the Commercial Driver License program by tracking documentation and keeping files organized.
- Assist with the random drug testing program by coordinating records and supporting communication workflows.
- Review and organize Form I-9 documentation and new hire paperwork to ensure accuracy.
- Help with employee relations intake by documenting initial concerns and routing them to the correct HR representative.
- Provide administrative support for employee relations by preparing timelines and maintaining confidential files.
- Assist with HR projects, audits, and reporting tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Labor Relations, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in Akron, Ohio.
