About the role#
This summer associate internship provides MBA students with hands-on exposure to investment banking and transaction execution. You will work within a small team in our Kansas City office. This is a full-time, in-person role during the summer of 2027. It is designed for students who will return to their MBA program following the internship and are available for full-time employment in 2028.
What you'll do#
- Build financial models and company valuations using discounted cash flow analysis, precedent transactions, and comparable companies.
- Prepare pitch materials, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, buyer lists, and data rooms.
- Research industries, companies, potential buyers, and acquisition targets to provide concise recommendations.
- Develop market and business analyses for M&A transactions.
- Support diligence and transaction process tracking while taking ownership of specific workstreams.
- Collaborate with senior bankers and assist in coordinating or reviewing research from analysts and interns.
- Use approved AI tools to organize information, support research, and develop written materials.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an MBA program with a graduation date of 2028 or December 2027.
- Prior professional experience in finance, consulting, corporate development, transaction advisory, or accounting.
- A working foundation in financial modeling, valuation, and accounting.
- Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong academic performance and clear communication skills.
- Practical proficiency with AI tools in a professional setting, including the ability to refine prompts and incorporate AI into repeatable workflows.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, coupled with sound judgment and attention to detail.
- A demonstrated commitment to investment banking.
