About the role#
As an Electrical Project Engineer Intern, you will work directly with an Electrical Project Manager to gain hands-on experience on industrial electrical construction projects. You will be assigned specific electrical work packages to manage from the planning phase through project closeout. This role provides direct exposure to project management, procurement, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control alongside experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical construction projects.
- Develop and manage electrical work packages through all project phases.
- Perform material takeoffs and assist with procurement, vendor coordination, and material tracking.
- Track project budgets, labor hours, production quantities, schedules, and change orders.
- Support quality control, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
- Review project drawings, contracts, and scopes of work to understand requirements.
- Prepare and track submittals, Requests for Information, and purchase orders.
- Visit active project sites to observe construction progress.
- Participate in project meetings with managers, superintendents, and clients.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Standing as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
