    About the role#

    The Richmond Fed Research Department is hiring an intern for the Summer 2027 term. This role supports both the Publications team and the Applied Analysis team. You will gain experience in economic research, writing, and data analysis while working at the central bank of the United States. This internship includes leadership training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

    What you'll do#

    • Research and write a feature-length article for the quarterly magazine, Econ Focus.
    • Support other publications with research, writing, and copyediting tasks.
    • Assist in updating economic reports.
    • Organize and analyze data to create visualizations.

    What you'll need#

    • A GPA of at least 3.5 in economics coursework and overall.
    • Familiarity with a statistical program such as Stata, SAS, or R.
    • Experience with research techniques and data exploration.
    • Ability to communicate findings clearly.
    • Experience with writing or editing, such as for a student newspaper or journal.
    • Ability to work in a collaborative, small-team environment.
    • You must submit 2-3 writing samples, a cover letter, your college transcript, and a resume with your application.

    • Location: Richmond, Virginia.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Employment: Full-time, temporary.
    • Compensation: $23.50 per hour.
    • Note: US citizenship is required. Sponsorship is not available for this role. Candidates are subject to background check procedures and must comply with the Bank Employee Code of Conduct regarding conflict-of-interest and investment restrictions.
