About the role#
Exowatt is hiring a Supply Chain & Manufacturing Intern for the Winter 2027 term. You will work directly with our team in Austin to build and scale our P3 modular energy systems. This role involves both factory floor operations and supply chain management. You will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of hardware production, from early assembly to volume scaling. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Define, document, and improve repeatable assembly processes for P3 modules, including work instructions and quality checks.
- Work with metal, glass, and ceramic fabrication equipment to refine production capabilities.
- Identify manufacturing bottlenecks, test fixes, and design simple jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
- Support supplier negotiations by requesting quotes, building cost analyses, and evaluating suppliers based on capacity and lead time.
- Own a specific manufacturing or sourcing project from start to finish and present your findings to leadership at the end of your term.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Availability to work on-site in Austin, TX, from January 12 to April 16, 2027.
- A hands-on, problem-solving mindset with an interest in assembly development.
- Familiarity with metal, glass, or ceramic fabrication methods.
- Comfort working in an active factory environment and following safety protocols, including the use of PPE.
- Exposure to or interest in supplier negotiations and cost analysis.
- Preferred: Experience with CAD software, reading engineering drawings, GD&T, lean manufacturing, or process documentation.
- Preferred: Hands-on fabrication experience (welding, machining, sheet metal) or previous internships in hardware, operations, or procurement.
