About the role#
Exowatt is looking for an MBA intern to join our Supply Chain & Manufacturing team in Austin for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on the commercial side of building our P3 system, which involves selecting contract manufacturers, negotiating costs, and managing supply risk as we scale toward volume production. This is a strategic role where you will own a sourcing project from initial analysis to final recommendation, participate in supplier negotiations, and present your findings to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Build sourcing strategies by analyzing spend, supplier capabilities, and market options for key components.
- Prepare negotiation plans, build should-cost models, and participate in supplier and contract manufacturer negotiations.
- Translate production schedules and forecasts into supply plans to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Map single-source and long-lead parts to assess risk and develop contingency options like dual-sourcing and safety stock.
- Identify cost savings through value engineering and design-for-cost initiatives in collaboration with engineers.
- Develop supplier scorecards to track quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Spend time on the factory floor and in the lab to understand the hardware and processes you are sourcing.
- Deliver a final recommendation to Supply Chain & Manufacturing leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an MBA program with a focus on operations, supply chain, or strategy.
- At least 2 years of work experience prior to your MBA.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including the ability to build cost models and test assumptions.
- Clear communication skills for interacting with senior leaders, engineers, and suppliers.
- A bias toward action and comfort with ambiguity.
- An undergraduate degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or another engineering discipline is preferred.
- Experience with contract manufacturers, strategic sourcing, or supplier negotiations is a plus.
- Familiarity with hardware product development, ERP systems, total cost of ownership analysis, or Incoterms is beneficial.
- Prior experience in energy, automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, or electronics manufacturing is helpful.

- This position is based on-site in Austin, Texas.
- The internship term runs from January 12, 2027, to April 16, 2027.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
