Software Engineering Intern — Inventory Automation & IoT/Robotics

About the role#

Exowatt is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join a two-person intern team focused on inventory automation and IoT/robotics. You will work on real platform improvements, contributing to the development of systems that manage inventory, automate purchasing, and integrate hardware sensors into our internal infrastructure.

What you'll do#

• Extend the existing inventory-management application by implementing automated reordering, price-trend awareness, and LLM-driven anomaly detection.
• Build upon the live RFID/MQTT receiving pipeline by integrating new IoT sensing and device data into the platform.
• Prototype agentic purchasing and reorder automation using LLM-driven workflows.
• Explore and build toward a working demonstrator for a drivable RFID scanner to automate stock-taking.
• Improve existing internal applications as part of your onboarding process.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Mathematics.
• Strong programming fundamentals with proficiency in Python.
• A genuine interest in the intersection of hardware, IoT, and robotics with software.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Preferred: Hands-on experience with IoT, embedded systems, or microcontrollers.
• Preferred: Exposure to RFID, sensors, robotics, mechatronics, or LLM/AI-API integration.
• A practical, hardware-hacker instinct for building physical demonstrators.
