Business Development Intern

About the role#

Exowatt is seeking a Business Development Intern to support our commercial strategy and market expansion efforts. You will serve as a key contributor to the Business Development team, building the infrastructure necessary to manage our sales pipeline and conducting the research required to enter new markets. This is a hands-on role where you will own deliverables that directly inform leadership decisions.

What you'll do#

• Build and maintain a pipeline tracking system to provide visibility into active opportunities, including stages, owners, and values.
• Develop a demand forecasting view that weights opportunities by stage and close probability to support leadership planning.
• Produce regular pipeline and forecast snapshots, flagging risks, gaps, and stale opportunities.
• Research and size new target markets, including identifying demand drivers and key players.
• Develop project-economics analyses to evaluate the attractiveness of new opportunities.
• Map the policy and regulatory landscape for target markets, including incentives, permitting, and tariff structures, to inform our strategy.
• Synthesize research into concise, decision-ready briefs and recommendations for the go-to-market team.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program (Business Administration, Economics, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, Political Science, or related fields), or recent graduation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to structure problems and work with quantitative data.
• High proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), including the ability to build clean, reusable models.
• Excellent research skills, with the ability to vet and synthesize information from multiple sources into clear conclusions.
• Strong written communication skills to produce tight, actionable briefs.
• A first-principles approach to problem-solving and a self-directed work style.
• Comfort integrating AI tools into research and analysis workflows.
• A genuine interest in energy, climate, and the commercialization of hard technology.
