Software Engineering Intern — Agent Platform (AI)

About the role#

As a Software Engineering Intern on the Agent Platform team, you will work as part of a two-person intern team to extend Exowatt's internal AI infrastructure. You will be responsible for building, deploying, and hardening agents used across the company, while contributing to the underlying platform architecture. This role is based on-site in Austin, Texas.

What you'll do#

• Build and ship new agent capabilities on the internal platform for company-wide use.
• Contribute to agent-platform architecture, including work on tool and skill surfaces, runtime, and deployment patterns.
• Conduct LLM fine-tuning and custom-inference experiments to develop efficient models for monitoring and operations workflows.
• Improve existing internal applications to gain familiarity with the codebase and contribute to real platform enhancements.
• Assist in running weekly internal AI Office Hours to support the broader team in using AI agent tools.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong programming fundamentals with proficiency in Python.
• Working familiarity with LLMs and AI APIs.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• A self-directed approach with the ability to take ownership of projects.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with agent frameworks, RAG, MCP, prompt/tool design, model fine-tuning, inference optimization, and AWS.
