About the role#
This is a 4-month Maintenance Engineering Co-op position based in Maitland, Ontario. You will work alongside the site leadership and maintenance teams in an operating chemical plant. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, sustainability, and plant efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Build a scope of work for implementing condition-based monitoring systems to address equipment anomalies.
- Improve the reliability and performance of rotating equipment.
- Investigate utility inefficiencies, specifically targeting site steam and electricity consumption.
- Develop solutions to support the site goal of climate neutrality by 2040.
- Update and create technical drawings using Brics CAD.
- Assist with general plant operations, including sizing equipment and organizing process safety information.
- Use SAP to improve maintenance execution, including spare parts development and maintenance plan details.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an intermediate to senior student in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, Environmental, or Biomedical Engineering.
- A strong commitment to working safely in a chemical plant environment.
- Excellent writing and documentation skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills and a desire to learn.

- Location: Maitland, Ontario.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: Paid position, with an hourly rate between $23 and $36 based on experience and work term.
- Transportation: Limited public transit is available; access to a car is helpful.
- Housing: Students are responsible for securing their own housing.
