About the role#
This internship program offers students the chance to work in a professional environment within the System Planning and Weatherization department. You will work alongside ERCOT staff to address real challenges facing the electric industry. The program is designed to help you build technical skills while contributing to team projects.
What you'll do#
- Solve practical problems related to the electric grid and power markets.
- Collaborate with employees across various units, including Planning Model Administration, Reliability Assessment Modeling, and Transmission Planning.
- Participate in team assignments that support the long-term operations and planning of the Texas power grid.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Experience coding in C#, Java, or Python.
- Familiarity with SQL database querying.
- Experience with power systems analysis.
- A focus on Power Systems is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The term runs from early June through the second week of August.
- Work is hybrid, requiring you to be on-site in Taylor, Texas, at least two days per week.
